A hat dresser that had nine lives...

This heavy piece of furniture was its destiny to be on display at my shop..even though my wonderful patient husband had another option for it "like the burn pile"! He threatened if had to move it again it would not be him.It came to my workshop a year ago when I purchased it at a auction in an old barn down a country road.
It was a giant in many ways...his drawers were stuck and swollen..the handles missing along with the top boards broken, but it still called out to me.Even better the auctioneer took my bid of $10.00!? Wow I was excited..but not my husband? After lots of lifting by a few people home it came to my WORKSHOP!! But, it was moved post to piller throughout that year for many reasons..this fall I got my husband when he was in a good patient mood to help me bring this giant to life. We sanded the drawers in order to open them.. I gave it an all over sanding , painted it in many layers of color. I added these great vintage glass knobs that I inherited from a great client from Montana .WOW ..I love the top drawers they are deep and wide , perfect for my hats and scarves.
The mantel top was a piece that was in my WORKSHOP just waiting for its bottom .. Guess what my giant has met it mate..they make a perfect couple ..don't you agree?
